What is this?If you're wondering what this site is for, it's basically just my own personal blog on my favorite Yume Nikki fangames I've played throughout the years! If you don't know what Yume Nikki is, to put it short: it's basically just an exploration game, which created a branching path of fangames, each with it's unique takes and even MORE things to explore and discover!
ㅤ
ㅤ
Why is this?I've played a BUNCH of these fangames, but only a few stuck with me since, and I hope to help others discover them through my collages and walls of texts of my ramblings. :'D
ㅤ
ㅤ
Did you take these pictures?Mostly not. The only ones that are all exclusively taken by me are the Lovely Sweet Dream & Yume Tsushin ones. Static images don’t quite capture the charm, so I want to make sure most of the collages here consist of gifs, so you can really see how interactive and visually stunning the worlds in these games are. I plan to replace all of the placeholder pictures here someday in the future with my own material, but for now, credits to whoever took these!
ㅤ
ㅤ
Will you add more games here?Well, it depends on if I find more fangames that I end up really enjoying. But for now, it'll stay like this. :)

Amillusion is a SUPER pretty game created by Team Compote! It used to be without a doubt one of the most beautiful and my favorite ever fangames I have played... Gorgeous and calming while still having that scare factor. What I really like about this game is the fact that it's more light hearted. The worlds are more artsy, consisting of abstract, vitrail style and other different kinds of art styles throughout the protagonist's dream world. She is also one of my favorite protags! I like that she just appears to be an ordinary girl who likes art and has strange & silly dreams. The music is also really nice! A lot of it makes the game much more lively and atmospheric that it just makes me revisit the game sometimes just to listen to the soundtrack!I definitely recommend this one if you're looking for something more whimsical and pretty!

This game, like the title says, is quite lovely! I have a huge soft spot for this game because it's another one of my first ever fangames I've played! The art is super cutesy, with a really pretty aesthetic, which is why I love it so much! I love it when YNFG developers have really unique art styles. :DThe music is okay, I don't have anything to say about it, but I do have to mention that the game has a few small bugs, but they're not game breaking or anything like that. What really made me intrigued were the characters you'd meet in the dream world, they are all so very interesting, and I like that the game itself has an actual story with multiple outcomes and endings. The only thing I'm sad about is the fact that the game is really small, I think even smaller than Yume Nikki itself! I hope it gets more updates one day...

Dream World is one of the first YNFG's I've played back in early 2020, and I think it still holds up half a decade later! Rather than being made with RPG Maker, this one was made on Roblox, and it just looks amazing! The worlds are really unique, and so is the art of the game! I've enjoyed every world I've explored in Dream World. Although, all of the soundtracks are taken from other games or media, so I can't really comment on it, but the choices are great! There are a few characters in this game that left me intrigued, even if they didn't have any sort of story, it's that environment around them that made them really interesting to me...I think what really made this game work was the fact it's in 3d. It really made the worlds way more immersive and stand out from some of the other fangames. The creator really did an incredible job when making this game, and I hope to see more of their work in the future!

Yume 2kki goes all the way back to 2007, and has been getting updates since. This game is practically a museum you can contribute to if you wanted to! Even I did at some point! In Yume 2kki, you can see a myriad of all sorts of talented and unique artists and developers actively pouring all of their effort into this incredible project...! With 157 authors, you are guaranteed to find something you'll enjoy here. It's like a whole catalog to choose and explore from. The contrast between the nexus and deeper worlds is crazy! The music is also amazing. I've been using it to help me sleep for multiple years now... and I'll never get sick of it!Although, it can be a hassle to constantly update the game if you're planning on downloading it, so it's much better to just play it online with a friend or 2. It's pretty fun to go on expeditions in this game with others. :)

Dream Genie is quite different from the others here, the worlds reflect the protagonists inner psyche, which are creepy, cool, and trippy mostly. These places make you think about what they really mean, giving you a chance to dive deep and explore her thoughts. Most of the soundtracks in this game are pretty much... absent. And when there is music, it usually uses just one instrument, or just one note repeating over and over, which makes the atmosphere even more unsettling. I mean... you can literally go to hell in this game!Besides that, I do like those specific worlds in the game that just give you this tranquil feeling after having to go through hell and back... :'D The world designs can be really pretty if they wanted to be, but the other ones are... okay at most, and sometimes questionable with all the grotesque imagery. This one might not be for everyone, but there is just something about it that I love.

Deep Dreams is a wonderful game made by the wonderful artist Noildoof! She also contributed to other fangames, one of which I've played before discovering this one, so I was overjoyed when I found out she made her own fangame! :DThe art and just the overall themes of the world really do make it feel like you're exploring some kind of fairytale dreamworld. She creates these immersive, pastel-like places that I could stare at forever because of how pretty everything looks! You can just tell she put care into designing every part of her game.I also like how the effects in this game look so different from each other, with all of them looking gorgeous as well! The music is also nice, but it's just copyright free music, so I can't really say anything. The game does have a few unnerving worlds, which I think were really well made! She really knows how to set the atmosphere in each world she has created, and I hope to see the game get updated one day...

Yume Tsuhin is such a well made and fun game! The pixel art and unique mechanics feel SO clean and well executed! The soundtrack is also good. Most of which were soft and melancholic instruments. None in particular stood out to me, and some felt a bit lacking, but I still think they fit the worlds pretty well! For the worlds, I pretty much enjoyed all of them! Everything just looked so polished, and the protagonist of the game is so cute!!! She's one of my few favorite protagonists from YNFG's!The game blends the familiar with the surreal. Some areas mirror everyday places, but others are abstract and dreamlike... There’s a mix of peaceful nostalgia and unsettling eeriness, creating this comforting and disorienting atmosphere...The creator of this game is really talented (duh), their art is amazing and I really think more people should appreciate their game and their wonderful creations!

Collective Unconscious is a collaborative game made by 59 amazing and super talented people, one of which could be you, because anyone can join the project!I was so stunned by all the beautiful and unique worlds I've discovered in this game, and if only I had more space, I would've definitely put more screenshots! :DI really love the music in this game. It's often soft and melancholic, but it puts it's instrument to great use! I like to use it sometimes as background music when doing other things...Besides that, I love how vast and open some areas are in this game, many of which use soft gradients to create this dreamlike atmosphere, while others feel deeply personal and or have symbolic imagery. There are also some silly places in this game that I love... :)You should definitely give this one a try if it piques your interest!
